Why “Wicches”?

pip de belfry beach

Good question. I know, I know, I should have spelled it “witches”…

But the thing is, I’m getting a little irked by all of the right-on declarations that only women can be witches.

Don’t get me wrong, unfortunately I’m old enough to remember all of the bra burning protests about sisterhood, and naturally I associate with Mother Earth. But hey ladies – just think, if there were no mistahs, you wouldn’t even be here to complain that they damn well didn’t ought to be allowed to be witches.

Enter “wicches”…

Wicches was the all encompassing word to describe practitioners of the magick arts until around 1000 A.D, when suddenly it became “witches” and the men got ousted out to become wizards or warlocks. Some of them may be happy with this, but I know a lot who aren’t. So I extend a “merry meet” to everyone, regardless of gender, and may we all gather together here to share our wit and wisdom.

So whether you’re a solitary wicche, a member of a coven, an eclectic wicche or whatever, I’d love you to join me on our wicchy journey through all of this everyday routine nonsense and add a few glimmersparks to each others Life along the way…

Oh, and if you’d like to be alerted whenever I publish a new blog post, you can subscribe here.

Blessings and glimmersparks,
